Guitar
Be a woman
Called
Biggest thing in the world
Standing in the lamplight
A mother
A midwife
Guitar
Saw a woman coming down
Makin funny smoke screens
In a rescue helicopter

Snotter Park in Emerald City (10)
Written for the 3rd,4th and 5th graders at Truckee Elementary

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings Found Poem (9)

Heavy sounds pushed their way up and out
Hung in the vacuum of that lifeless morning

Stopped singing

Good girl
The child gives, because the body can
Peach tree
Torn loose
Be gone
Visible lamplight
Praising God
Crawl back into
The last inch of space
Darkly retained
